After a successful career on TV,  Eijaz Khan is ready to be launched on the big screen.
Describing his role in Meerabai Not Out (his debut film) he says, “I play a regular guy who is a doctor and runs his cardiology clinic.

He is still in the process of understanding India as a country because he has studied abroad most of his life. Then he meets this girl, Meera, who is very enthusiastic about life and cricket. This guy is taken aback by her passion, is smitten by her and gets to know another side of life which is full of fun.”

When asked if he finds working in films better than the television industry, he says, “It would be unfair to compare the two because they serve different purpose. Lots of people crib about erratic work timings in the television industry.

But frankly, this industry has given me a strong foothold as an actor. I think it’s easy to blame TV for boring scripts but it is a lot of hard work. Retakes in TV are difficult and you really have to meet deadline of episodes every single day. However, in films, there is the liberty of retakes. And TV really pays you well.”

Eijaz has not worked on any television project for about a year and a half and is only concentrating on films. Apart from Meerabai Not Out, Eijaz has two more films on his kitty including Dharmesh Darshan’s Bhavra which is in the post production stage and PNC’s dark and edgy psychological thriller Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which is almost complete.

“I have done my level best as an actor in the films that I have signed. I anticipate that someone will like my work in at least one of the movies,” says Eijaz.
He doesn’t like to talk much about his relationship with actor Anita Hassanandani. But he hints that she means a lot to him.

“It’s a very personal thing and I don’t discuss it with everybody. My best friends and family members know about it and I like to keep it that way,” he says.

After already doing three films where does Eijaz see himself in future? “I never planned to be an actor. I was working with my father in his engineering firm when I started receiving modelling offers. Then gradually television happened and now its films.”
