Young actress Sonakshi Sinha lashes out at reports of her making Katrina Kaif insecure
B-Towns’s abuzz with khabar of newbie Sonakshi Sinha being pitched with other actresses — Katrina Kaif in particular, not only on home ground by being mentored by Salman Khan, but also with brands, replacing her in a film’s sequel and even as Akshay Kumar’s heroine in the star’s next two films.
In fact, the Akshay-Sonakshi jodi is now being pitched as the new Akki-Kat pairing.
New Sonakshi may be, but thanks to her Bollywood lineage, she’s not unaware of the ways of Bollywood and the one thing that she refuses to be drawn into, are controversies. “I’m here to work and I’d rather be written about that alone,” she says.
Choosing not to be ruffled by comparisons, “Comparisons are inevitable and I take them as a compliment,” says the star daughter while dismissing goss of her wanting to step into Katrina’s shoes.
“There’re no problems between us, as far as I know and these stories don’t bother me at all. I’m not here to replace anyone. I just want to create my own place and am working at my own pace to do that,” states the young star, who’s doing rather well for someone who’s an actress by accident.
However, Sonakshi, who’s currently shooting in Chandigarh for Joker, waves it all off. “For me, it all still feels very surreal. I can’t believe I’m into my second film already. I’m enjoying the process of evolving as an actor and too busy doing that to be bothered by any gossip that’s doing the rounds about me.”
Talking about films, she has several in her kitty, but surprisingly no item number. “They scare me,” she jokes. Point out that her performance at an awards function recently proved otherwise and she says, “I love dancing, but I’m not bold enough for an item number. It’s just not my cup of tea,” she smiles.
