History scholar points out grave mistakes in ‘Mohenjo Daro’ posters and she is bang on!

Ashutosh Gowariker has always made crafty period dramas. Whether it was Lagaan, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se or a Jodha Akbar, he has been an astute maker when it comes to aesthetics. But with his latest film, Mohenjo Daro, he seems to have terribly lost the plot.

The film which releases on August 12 is slowly garnering a lot of hype, thanks to the two posters and the motion poster that was unveiled recently. In the second poster which also introduces the film’s heroine Pooja Hegde, the newbie can be seen sporting a blue, jewel-embellished long gown with feathers tied to her head gear.

Guess, Ashutosh went terribly wrong with his research because after the poster was launched, it was criticised heavily on Twitter, mainly for wrong portrayal of the Harappan civilisation. Ruchika Sharma, an aspiring archaeologist and an M.Phil student  at JNU who specialises in Medieval Indian history lambasted the makers for the stereotypical representation of the Mohenjo Daro era.

She took to Twitter to point out the mistakes and she definitely made a lot more sense than the poster, which now seems to have been made just to give a brilliant launch-pad for the debutante heroine and nothing else.

Guess Ashutosh should have got his posters checked with the correct authorities before posting them on the social network. Mohenjo Daro starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde releases this August 12.
