Teachers have had one of the toughest jobs to cope with during the COVID pandemic, as all academic activities shifted to online platforms. To commend the hard work put in by the teachers during this period, the Shikshak Parv 2021 conclave was organized.

Students, parents, and teachers from different parts of the country converge for a virtual conclave and discuss the key amendments in the country's school education policy on Shikshak Parv. This year, the conclave was conducted virtually through video conferencing.

The virtual conference was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State for Education Jitin Prasad, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched several new initiatives to make learning accessible to all during the pandemic.

During the Shikshak Parv 2021, PM Modi also talked about the achievements and contributions of teachers, who made learning during the pandemic possible for children across the country.

Shikshak Parv 2021: Key initiatives for accessible learning

  1. For deaf students across the country, an Indian sign language dictionary has been launched which involves audio and text embedded sign language video for the hearing impaired in conformity with Universal Design of Learning which has 10,000 words.
  2. To make learning accessible for visually impaired students, talking books (audiobooks) have been launched.
  3. The School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been launched.
  4. The NISHTHA teachers’ training programme for NIPUN Bharat has been launched to make learning more inclusive and enjoyable.
  5. The central government has also launched the Vidyanjali portal for facilitating education volunteers, donors, and CSR contributors for school development. This portal will help the country take advantage of community participation to help students across the country.

While addressing the Shikshak Parv 2021, PM Modi said, “Teachers have rightly tackled all the challenges amid the coronavirus pandemic through online classes, group video calls, and online exams. These concepts were not known to anyone earlier, but the stakeholders of the education system made them a part of the regular learning process.”

He also said that in order to motivate students to actively participate in sports, he has asked all the Olympians and Paralympians to visit 75 schools to mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
