The Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India, a breakaway faction of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacked the Delhi government of planning to hike fares of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses on Thursday.
The party alleged that the Delhi government was hand-in-glove with the Centre on the Delhi Metro fare hike issue and now plans to hike DTC bus fares as well.
Yadav took to the social media site Twitter to attack the AAP. "One more lie nailed. Metro documents show MD of DTC told Fare Fixation Committee that they plan to raise DTC fares, following Metro fare hike. Metro hiked its fares on this basis. Now who controls the DTC? The LG? Modi government?" tweeted Yadav.
However, AAP leader and Delhi Transport minister Kailash Gahlot rubbished the allegations retorting on the site: "Futile attempts to mislead the public. Have no basis. There is no proposal whatsoever to hike DTC fares - all these are lies."
Swaraj Party members also released a document on the site pertaining to discussions on the Fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) where a proposal to revise DTC fares has been discussed.
"Shocking to note that the Delhi Metro fares were increased on an assurance from DTC that bus fares will also be revised after that... Yet another proof that Delhi government was hand in glove in unjustly increasing metro fares and now plans to hike DTC bus fares...," a member of Swaraj India wrote on Twitter.
The AAP government had attacked the Centre for the hike in Metro fares last month. However, the central government had pointed out that the AAP did not raise an objection when the hike was being discussed by the Committee.
