Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have achieved their highest ODI rankings to date after delivering outstanding performances in the Asia Cup 2023 matches against Nepal and Pakistan, respectively. Gill displayed his brilliance by scoring an unbeaten 67 runs against Nepal in India's second Group A encounter, while Kishan showcased his talent with a remarkable 82 runs against Pakistan, although the much-anticipated match between the neighboring teams was unfortunately abandoned due to rain.

Following their exceptional displays, these young Indian cricketers have made significant progress in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. Although Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, continues to dominate the rankings at number 1, Gill has climbed to the third position, securing a career-high of 750 rating points.

While Babar maintains a comfortable lead with 882 rating points, both India and Pakistan have advanced to the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023, and with the ODI World Cup just a month away, Gill undoubtedly sees an opportunity to further improve his standing.

Kishan has achieved his career-high ranking of 24th place after a remarkable performance in Pallekele, where he scored an impressive 82 runs. This knock played a crucial role in India's recovery from a shaky start, as they lost Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer early on.

With a total of 624 rating points, Kishan is determined to continue his upward trajectory in the ODI games that lie ahead. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be able to maintain his position in India's playing XI, as KL Rahul has also joined the team.

In the latest ODI rankings, South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen holds the second spot, while India's renowned player, Virat Kohli, is ranked 10th. Captain Rohit Sharma follows closely behind in 11th place.

Pakistan's star fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has made an impressive leap of four places in the ODI bowlers' rankings. After taking six wickets in Pakistan's two matches during the group stage, Afridi now holds the fifth position. His fellow countryman, Haris Rauf, has also shown remarkable progress, climbing 14 places to secure the 29th spot in the latest rankings. Naseem Shah, another talented Pakistani bowler, has gained 13 spots, now standing at 68th place. Rauf and Shah's exceptional performances in the Asia Cup have earned them new career-high ratings.

Adding to the excitement, India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other once again in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup on September 10. This highly anticipated match provides an opportunity for both teams' players to further improve their positions in the ICC rankings.
