Team India all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who made his debut in the one-day internationals in the first game against England in Pune on Tuesday, smashed his maiden half-century in just 26 balls. By the virtue of the same, Krunal hit the fastest fifty in ODIs by a debutant. The previous best was by New Zealand batsman John Morris, who hit a fifty on his debut against England in 1990 in just 35 balls.
Krunal's innings was also the fastest fifty for an Indian in the ODIs after a gap of 9 years, since 2012.
Pandya came in at 205/5 when India had lost four wickets in the last 51 balls. The left-hander was aggressive from the start and took on the England bowlers. No matter who came on to bowl, Krunal was in demolition mode as he smashed seven fours and two sixes to reach his fifty of just 26 balls.
