Meet woman who runs Rs 3,18,000 crore company, daughter of India's richest man in tech industry

Roshni Nadar Malhotra is a well-known Indian billionaire businesswoman. She is the chairperson for HCLTech, a multinational IT services and consulting firm based in India. The 41-year-old joined HCL in 2009. Malhotra is the daughter of Shiv Nadar. who co-founded HCL in 1976 in a garage to make calculators and microprocessors with five friends. 

Roshi took HCL's chairperson role from her father in July 2020. She is responsible for all strategic decisions of the Rs 3,18,000 crore company market cap technology company. She is also the chairperson of its CSR Board Committee.

Roshni is the first woman to lead a listed IT company in India. She is the only child of the HCL founder. Her father Shiv Nadar is India's richest man in the technology industry. He has a real-time net worth of USD 27.3 billion as of August 20. This is around Rs 2,27,010 crore today.

Roshni holds an undergraduate degree in Communications from Northwestern University. Roshni also completed her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which is focused on education and has established some of India's top colleges and schools.

Roshi is also passionate about wildlife and conservation. She established The Habitats Trust in 2018. The foundation aims to work towards protecting India’s natural habitats and its indigenous species. Since 2019, she has been producing a TV series for Animal Planet/Discovery based on the most endangered wildlife species in India -- On The Brink.
