Mahesh Gupta had completed her engineering from IIT Kanpur. He was working in the government sector and living the middle class dream. However, he wanted to do something of his own. He had to quit his job. His son had become ill due to a water-borne disease. He decided to solve this problem. He opened an RO company. His company's name is Kent RO.

On 24 September 1954, Mahesh Gupta was born in Delhi. He was a meritorious student. His father was a section officer in the finance ministry.

His entire family used to live in a small house. He completed his schooling from Delhi's Lodhi Road. He later completed mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur. He also completed his masters from Dehradun's Indian Institute of Petroleum.

He quit his job in 1988. He started an oil meter business in Noida. Here, his children got ill due to polluted water.

To solve this problem, he started Kent RO.

His osmosis-based water purifier became an instant hit. He started his business in 1998. He used to sell his product for Rs 20,000.

He started the company with Rs 5000 seed capital. The company's turnover remains over Rs 1000 crore.
