Marumalarchi Labour Front (MLF), the trade union wing of MDMK, today urged Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi to pay 20 per cent bonus to employees of cooperative spinning mills across the state.

In a letter to Karunanidhi, MLF general secretary, S Duraisamy pointed out that employees of transport, electricity board and others were getting 20 per cent bonus. As such, the government should announce bonus to employees of these mills.

Only five of the 18 textile spinning mills in the state are functional and it would not be difficult for the government to pay bonus for them, Duraisamy said.
