Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War starring Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi and Raima Sen sees a low opening
Vivek Agnihotri’s much-awaited film The Vaccine War finally hit the theatres on Thursday. The movie opened to mixed response from the audience which also reflected on the film’s box office collection. The film saw a significant low opening.
As per the early estimates of Sacnilk, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War saw a low opening and collected only Rs 1.30 crore. The Vaccine War had an overall 10.17% Hindi occupancy on Thursday, which was the Eid-e-Milad an-Nabi and Ganpati Visarjan holiday in parts of India.
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War clashed with Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadha, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, and Pankaj Tripathi’s Fukrey 3 which saw a strong start at the box office and earned Rs 8.50 crore on day 1.
Helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Vaccine War shows India’s fight to make its own vaccine to fight against Covid-19 and what went behind the making of India’s own vaccine. Starring Nana Patekar, Raima Sen, Pallavi Joshi, Sapthami Gowda, Girija Oak, and Anupam Kher, the movie is a tribute to the unsung heroines of India.
Talking about The Vaccine War in an interaction with ANI, Pallavi Joshi who is also the producer of the film said, “A lot of people are confused...But this film is not based on Covid. We are only talking about how the vaccine was made and the problems faced during that time. This is not a dark film in any sense...It is a very positive film that celebrates our success. The audience will be filled with pride when they leave the theatres after watching it...We have proved that India can do it..."
Pallavi Joshi also revealed how they discovered the source material and said, “During the second wave (of Covid), many people lost lives, and it was a very bleak period. After the second wave, we got to know about the book of Dr Balram Bharagava, and it narrated the entire journey of how they developed the vaccine to fight Coronavirus. When Vivek read it, he came to me and said, 'This is amazing, you don't know what these scientists have done'.”
