Shilpa Shetty is back to enthrall the audience with her recent release Sukhee. The film marks the directorial debut of Sonal Joshi. The film failed to impress the audience and opened to a disastrous opening.

As per the report on the tracking website Sacnilk, Shilpa Shetty’s film Sukhee opened to a disastrous opening and earned only Rs 30 lakh on day 1 as per the rough data. The film may earn Rs 40 lakh on Saturday as per the report.

Sukhee is the light-hearted, slice-of-life story of Sukhpreet 'Sukhee' Kalra, a 38-year-old Punjabi housewife who fed up with her everyday, mundane life, goes to Delhi to attend her school reunion. Sukhee relives the 17-year-old version of herself whilst going through a plethora of experiences in a span of just seven days, coming out rekindled, reborn, and making the most difficult transition in her life - from being a wife and a mother to being a woman again.

Helmed by Sonal Joshi, Sukhee also stars Chaitanya Choudhary, Kusha Kapila, Amit Sadh, and Nitanshi Goel among others in key roles. The film hit the theatres on Friday. The film clashed with Vicky Kauhal's The Great Indian Family which also failed to have a strong start at the box office.

Talking about the film, Shilpa Shetty revealed in an interview with Money Control, why she chose the role and said, “In the three decades of my career, I have come to really believe that characters choose you and you don’t choose the role. There was a point when I was offered the film and I thought that I wasn’t going to be able to do it because I wasn’t in the right mind space then. And today I’m so happy that I ended up doing it and the makers waited and Sonal the director, believed in me and didn’t approach anyone else.”
