R Balki opens up on working with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in new commercial.
Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have shared the screen together earlier in movies like Mohabbatien, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and more. The two recently took social media by fire as they came together for an advertisement. The ad was directed by R Balki and opening up on the experience of directing them together, the filmmaker called the ‘legendary kids’.
Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan collaborated after a long time for a commercial for the brand Everest. Opening up on the experience of directing them, R Balki called it ‘a once-in-a-lifetime’ ad and said, “ I think it’s the first time ever that Amitji and SRK are featuring in a commercial together. It was an iconic shoot. They were like two buddies who were meeting on set after years. We were all of course excited but they were even more.”
He added, “It was like shooting with two legendary kids. Never been this ecstatic shooting. I have never been sadder that it ended. They are just too cool and special together and I thank Everest from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with this once-in-a-lifetime ad. I’ve always believed in the power of simplicity, and this campaign encapsulates that essence perfectly. It was an enriching experience to work alongside Shah Rukh Khan, and together, we’ve celebrated the joy of home-cooked meals.”
During the shoot of the commercial, Amitabh Bachchan got to know about the designing skills of Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan when they were spending time together in SRK’s vanity van which is designed by his wife. Amitabh talked about the same on Kaun Banega Crorepati and said, “I saw (Gauri’s) interior design works. Recently, I was shooting with SRK and while talking I went inside his van. It is beautifully designed. There’s a TV, sliding sofa, kitchen, and many other things. He said it was designed by her. “He (SRK) even said, 'I would ask her to design one for you.'Par ab tak aayi nahi hain (But she is yet to come).”
Shah Rukh Khan is currently enjoying the success of his latest release Jawan. Helmed by Atlee, the movie also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi along with Aaliyah Qureshi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, and others in key roles. The movie opened to a thunderous response from the audience and has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office and the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide in just 5 days.
Amitabh Bachchan will be next seen in the movie Ganapath: Part 1 which also stars Kriti Sanon and Tiger Shroff. Helmed by Vikas Bahl the movie is scheduled to release on October 20 in theatres. He will also be seen in Nag Ashwin Project K which also stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan along with others in key roles. The film is scheduled to release next year.
