Nana Patekar is making his comeback in Hindi films with Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's The Vaccine War. The theatrical trailer of the film was released on September 12, and Nana joined with DNA India for an exclusive conversation. Nana has always been vocal about people not celebrating 'real' heroes of the country, like the Army, doctors, and farmers, but worshipping actors and cricketers.

The veteran actor said that The Vaccine War will celebrate the unsung heroes, the Bravehearts scientists, who risked their lives to save millions. He said, "It's unfortunate that we have forgotten our real heroes. These film stars and sports personalities are there in their place. But we have military, and para-military who will always come to the rescue during the crisis. Whenever there is an unrest situation, there are floods or any other natural disaster, we have an Army that saves people. Tab aapko Army ki yaad aati hai, lekin aise waqt nahi aati jab koi shaheed ho jaata hai (We do remember the Army during the crisis, but we ignore when a soldier sacrificed his life for us)."

Nana further criticised people who carelessly spend money on buying expensive movie tickets, but don't wish to contribute towards armed forces. "Kabhi aapne do paise ikhata kar ke unki family ko diye hai kya? We don't ask this question. Hum yeh film ka pehla show dekhenge, uske liye kaise bhi ticket katvayenge, lekin unko yeh samaj nahi aata ki humare real heroes ko celebrate karna chaiye (Have you ever thought of collecting money for a soldier's family? We don't ask ourselves these questions. We would do anything to watch FDFS of a movie, but we don't understand that we should celebrate real heroes)." Nana further asserted, "Woh ek sensitivity jo hai, hum usse thoda door ho gaye hai. But main apne aap mein, yeh baat zinda rakhi ki koshish karta hu (We have become a little insensitive towards them, but I keep reminding myself)."

Nana Patekar's The Vaccine War also stars Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Girija Oak Godbole, and Sapthami Gowda. The Vaccine War will be released in cinemas on September 28.
