Anurag Kashyap recently indulged in a Twitter war with actor Anil Kapoor. The filmmaker asked Anil Kapoor where is his Oscar award for 'Slumdog Millionaire', after which Anil and Anurag went on a public feud - by taking a dig at one another.
Anil had tweeted an appreciation post for Shefali Shah and Delhi Crime, which won the Emmy Awards 2020 a few days back. He also wrote #WelcomeToHollywood, which became a conversation starter for Anurag Kashyap.
"I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again because they absolutely deserve it! Congratulations to the #DelhiCrime team! Nice to finally see more of our people get international recognition. @ShefaliShah_ #WelcomeToHollywood," tweeted Anil.

Anurag then commented on Anil Kapoor not winning or even being nominated for Oscar Awards, even when his movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' was appreciated at the highly-acclaimed awards show. The filmmaker shared, "Nice to see some deserving people get international recognition. Waise, aapka Oscar kidhar hain (Where is your Oscar)? No? Achha... nomination?"

Anil sent a burn reply to Anurag soon after. He wrote, "The closest you have come to an Oscar is watching Slumdog Millionaire win Oscars on TV. #TumseNaHoPayega."

Anurag, however, took out the point that Anil wasn't even the first choice for the movie. For the uninformed, Shah Rukh Khan was first approached for the role which was eventually played by Anil. Using SRK style (kkk), Anurag replied, "Says the k-k-k-ing of hand-me-down films. Weren’t you the second choice for this film also?"

Anil then told Anurag that 'work is work' for him. "Hand-me-down or pick-me-up: I don’t care. Work is work. Tumhare jaise kaam dhoondte waqt baal toh nahi nochne padte (At least I don’t have to tear my hair looking for work). #actorlife," he commented.

Getting yet another point to talk about (in Anil Kapoor's hair), Anurag shared, "Sir, you don’t talk about hair. Aapko toh apne baal ke dum pe roles milte hain (You get roles only because of your hair). #BaalBaalBaloo #TheJungleLife."

Anil Kapoor reminded Anurag that he has been in the industry for 40 years. The actor said, "Beta, you need serious skills to have a career like mine. Aise hi nahi chal rahi humari gaadi 40 saal se (There is a reason why my engine has been running for the last 40 years). #TheRealAK."

Anurag trolled Anil this time with posters of his movies 'Pagalpanti', 'Fanney Khan', 'Total Dhamaal' and 'Race 3'. Asking Anil Kapoor to retire, Anurag said, "Sir har 40 saal purani gaadi ko vintage nahi kehte. Kuch ko khatara bhi kehte hain (Sir, not every old car is called vintage. Some are just junk). #retirementcalling."

Anil, in turn said that Anurag is still finding his place in the industry, while Anil already has his own. "Abe meri gaadi 40 saal chali toh chali, teri toh abhi tak garage se hi nahi nikli hai (At least my car has been running for 40 years, yours is yet to come out of the garage). #thenationhasspoken," Kapoor shared.

Once again taking a dig at Salman Khan-starrer 'Race 3', Anurag stated, "Agar gaadi Race 3 ki ho toh ((If it is the Race 3 car, then) it’s better that it stays in the garage only. #havemercy."

Anurag Kashyap and Anil Kapoor would clash with one another in their upcoming Netflix film 'AK vs AK'. The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, last remembered for 'Bhavesh Joshi', which released in 2018. Meanwhile, the trailer of 'AK vs AK' is all set to release soon and the Twitter banter could be a part of the team's marketing strategy.
