The administration of Gujarat's chief electoral officer (CEO) is preparing to provide a tool for common people to file complaints of breach of code of conduct during Lok Sabha polls through a mobile application. The C-Vigil application will be made available in Gujarat soon and that will be accessible to all when model code of conduct (MCoC) for Lok Sabha polls comes under implementation.

Sources from the office of CEO said on condition of anonymity, "The C-vigil was already launched by the election commission last year but in Gujarat, it will be used for the first time during Lok Sabha polls. The joint CEO in Gujarat will visit the election commission on Thursday along with the master trainer of the application."

"The state level workshop on use of C-Vigil will be held on February 16 for district level officials. The CEO has shortlisted 200 such officials across the state who will get this training and they will be directed to make people aware about the usage of C-Vigil in their territories. They will also hold workshops and training programmes for common people later," added the sources.

The CEO Gujarat will also incorporate the C-Vigil Mobile application in the module of the voters' awareness campaign.

Through this application, any citizen can upload videos or photographs to present as evidence before the CEO to file complaint against anyone for breach of model code of conduct. The photos and videos will be taken under congnisance by the district administration and the district election officer will have to ensure required actions within a period of 100 minutes after the same is uploaded. This application also has a feature that would add on the information related to the complainant including name, mobile number, location and other.
