COVID-19 UPDATE: Governments have taken measures to control Covid-19 as the number of reported cases increases worldwide.
Updated : Dec 23, 2022, 11:43 PM IST
As the number of reported instances of Covid-19 rises worldwide, Indian governments have responded by taking measures to contain the Covid epidemic. Beginning on December 24, the government has stated that a random sample for Covid-19 of passengers on foreign flights will be subject to a coronavirus test.
The Union health ministry contacted the Union civil aviation ministry about the rise of coronavirus infections in various countries. "A subsection of 2 per cent of the total passengers in the flight shall undergo random post-arrival testing at the airport on arrival," said the official statement.
As a result of an increase in Covid cases in numerous countries, including China, India will continue its random screenings of 2% of all foreign arrivals on Saturday, December 24 at 10 AM. After providing samples, airlines will choose at random and allow customers to leave. The unexpected rise of Covid-19 instances prompted this decision, which was taken in reaction to the situation in China, South Korea, Brazil, France, Japan, and the United States of America.
As part of the ongoing measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Pune International Airport has implemented thermal screening for 2% of arriving passengers. To ensure that there are enough resources available to handle any potential cases, the Pune Municipal Corporation has prepared 600 beds in civic hospitals and has plans to set up additional dedicated COVID-19 hospitals within a few days if necessary. Dr. Ashish Bharti, the health officer for the Pune Municipal Corporation, said that preparations have been made at Naidu Hospital and two other facilities, with the potential to have three to four dedicated COVID-19 hospitals ready within a couple of days.
Three new COVID-19 cases were reported in Chhattisgarh on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 11,77,748. The positivity rate was 0.23%. The death toll and recovery count remain unchanged at 14,146 and 11,63,595, respectively. The active caseload in the state is currently seven, with two cases in Raipur and one in Durg.
The Covid-19 virus has infected approximately 37 million people in China daily this week, according to a recent report. This makes it the largest COVID outbreak ever recorded. The covid outbreak is apparently the biggest one to date in the globe, according to estimations from the Chinese health ministry. According to the studies, China probably sees 5,000 violent deaths per day. Recall that China is alleged to have manipulated its covid death rates in order to maintain them extremely low in comparison to all other nations in the globe.
Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Sarang on Friday examined the genome sequencing equipment set up in the virology lab of the government-run Gandhi Medical College here amid the alarm caused by the BF.7 sub variation of Omicron and the potential for an increase in coronavirus cases.

According to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the current priority is to prevent an unknown virus type from entering India while also removing any travel restrictions that may exist. To reduce the possibility of a novel coronavirus strain entering the country, the Union Health Ministry has ordered the Civil Aviation Ministry to implement random post-arrival Covid testing of 2% of incoming passengers on each overseas aircraft at airports beginning on December 24.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, at a high-level meeting to discuss COVID-19, warned against complacency and stressed the need to upgrade monitoring mechanisms, especially at international airports. Because of the forthcoming holiday season, he stressed the need of always following COVID-appropriate protocols, such as wearing a mask in public.
