TV actress Ohanna Shivanand aka Shilpa Anand made it big when she played Dr Riddhima on Dill Mill Gayye but her career fell away soon after. Here's why...
When it aired in 2007, Dill Mill Gayye was one of the most popular TV shows in the country. The medical drama, a sequel to Sanjeevani, was constantly rated high and continued for three years. It transformed the careers of its lead stars, most of whom went on to become huge TV stars. However, there was one exception and surprisingly it was the actress who played the most beloved character on the show – actress Ohanna Shivanand aka Shilpa Anand, who was Dill Mill Gayye’s Dr Riddhima.

Dill Mill Gayye focused on Dr Shashank’s (Mohnish Behl) daughters Riddhima and Anjali, who join him at the hospital as interns. Ohanna, who went by Shilpa Anand back then, starred as Riddhima, while Sunaina Gulia played Anjali. The show soon began focusing on the love story of Riddhima and another intern Dr Armaan (played by Karan Singh Wahi). Armaan and Riddhima became TV’s it couple and the two actors’ star stature improved too. However, in 2008, Ohanna left the show to focus on her film career.
Ohanna’s film career struggles and return to TV
Ohanna’s exit from the show caused the ratings to suffer. She claimed she left the show because she had a fight with an executive producer during the filming of a dance sequence where she felt uncomfortable. Ohanna did two films titled Deewane Ho Gaye and Alert 24X7 but unfortunately, both were stalled by delays and never released. In 2010, she returned to TV and Dill Mill Gayye, playing a different character as Jennifer Winget had been cast as Riddhima. In the next few years, she did two small films and worked in one episode of a TV show but could not find her old success.
Ohanna Shivanand’s claims against her family
In 2019, Ohanna dropped a bombshell when she accused her own family of plotting to kill her. In a Facebook post on July 18, 2019, Ohanna wrote, “Few months back my mom filed a murder case against my sisters mother in law (Bhavana Brhambhatt) for murdering her husband and accumulating all the insurance money and for attempt to murder me and my mom and killing showpaw when she was in India…but the very next day she ran away back to America….my public notice to her…pls face the cops in India little chicken..the cops in India have called my mom a couple of times saying ‘woh toh Bhag gayi, hame batana kab ayegi wapas….for a murder case u are on high alert when u land in India. …let me see what happens now.” In another post, Ohanna accused her best friend of ‘organising’ someone to rape her.
Where is Ohanna Shivanand today?
Ohanna lives in Mumbai and till a year ago, was regular on social media as well. She has not acted since 2016 with her last screen appearance in a film titled Yeh Hai Lollipop. The same year, she had also appeared in a music video for Punjabi singer Tarsem Jassar.
