Mumbai Mann rules the roost

Mumbai lad Gurikk Mann of Red Rooster Racing hogged the limelight by clinching the pole position with a timing of 54:6sec in the senior category of the grand finale of the JK Tyre national Indian Rotax Max karting championship at the Mohites Racing Academy here on Saturday. In the junior section, local lad Parth Ghorpade (54:8sec) led the pack being the fastest in the qualifiers.

Mumbai racer Ameya Walavalkar, who leads the seniors’ table with 341 points, had to be content with a second place start. Mohit Ahuja of Red Rooster Racing, will start third on the grid. A slight mistake actually pushed Mohit to the third place.

Chennai’s table leader in the micro max category – Tarun Reddy – will start behind S Krishnaraj of Kolhapur. The Mohites Racing Academy’s youngster, who is fourth on the points tally, came out firing on all cylinders to top the qualifiers in 59:9sec.  Krishnaraj’s teammate Dhruv Mohite will start third. All the finals will take place on Sunday. In all, 34 racers from various parts of the country are participating in the championship. The highlights of the race are 2 female participants from Maharashtra – Shena Sharma of Mumbai and Abha Mankar of Pune.
