Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has completed the primary survey of lifting water from Andra Maval dam and forwarded a proposal to the state government.

Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said, “Now we are pondering whether to lift water from the river or through a closed pipeline. The process of identifying the water treatment plants is also going on.”

The civic body had appointed Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran as consultant to conduct a primary survey and estimate the cost of the project to lift water from Andra Maval dam. The state irrigation department can provide 30 million litres per day (MLD) water to PCMC from Andra Maval dam. PCMC has allocated Rs3 lakh for the survey and appointing consultant. To cater to the needs of residents, PCMC had requested state irrigation department to release the waters from Andra Maval and Bhima Askhed dams.

Of the seven dams in Maval area, namely Wadiwale, Pavana, Kasarsai, Tata Motor Ltd’s two dams, Andra Maval and Bhama Askhed, PCMC had found the latter two as suitable options.
