EPFO issues IMPORTANT alert for 6 crore PF account holders - Details inside

Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued an alert for its 6 crore account holders through Twitter. PF account holders have been alerted about personal information and download of any kind of app. The information was shared on Twitter by EPFO.

Provident fund is very important for anyone who is working as it provides financial security after retirement. PF amount benefits employed people even during the tenure of their service. Therefore, you always need to stay updated about your PF money.

What did EPFO say? 

EPFO has issued a warning to its customers against fake calls. EPFO tweeted, "EPFO never asks for UAN number, Aadhaar number, PAN number or bank details from its account holders on phone calls nor does EPFO make any phone calls to its account holders."

Therefore, you need to avoid such fake incoming calls as it can help a hacker log in to your EPF account and compromise its security. EPFO has also warned its customers to avoid fake websites. 

Bank also issues alerts for its customers 

Notably, banks also keep on issuing alerts for the safety of their customers. They warn their customers via messages and Twitter handle.

Banking frauds

Banking frauds have increased during the COVID-19 lockdown. As per a report by RBI, banks reported a total fraud of Rs 71,543 crore in the year 2018-19, due to digital transactions. More than 6800 fraud bank cases were reported by lenders during this period of time. During the last 11 financial years, a total of 53,334 cases of bank fraud have been reported. Frauds worth Rs 2.05 lakh crore have taken place throughout these years.
