Sanjana Srivastava, who was shot at by her friend, has decided to say goodbye to the city and Bollywood. She wants to go back to her family in Lucknow after she is discharged from the hospital to start her life and career afresh.
Her elder brother, Vishal Srivastava, an M.Com student of Lucknow University, said Sanjana had been stubborn about wanting to pursue a career in films in Mumbai, despite opposition from the family. But, after the tragic incident, she wants to return back home in Lucknow, he said.
Meanwhile, she underwent another minor head surgery on Saturday. She was operated upon by neurosurgeon Dr Harshad Parekh at the Arogyanidhi Hospital in Juhu, sources at the hospital said. Doctors attending to her said she was responding satisfactorily to the treatment.
Hospital sources said Sanjana would be discharged by the end of next week. As Sanjana’s family was facing financial problems, the trust running the hospital had waived off a part of expenditure on her treatment, the sources said. The city-based Kayastha Samaj, of which the Srivastavas are members, chipped in with financial support to bail out Sanjana, they added.
Vishal said Sanjana never participated in any fashion or beauty show in Lucknow, as was reported earlier in some sections of the media. She did not take part in theatre or other cultural activities either, said Vishal. She just concentrated on her studies, he added.
Vishal also said Sanjana was a brilliant student and did her schooling at the prestigious City Montessori School in Lucknow and completed her graduation from the Deendayal Upadhyay College in the city, where her father once worked with the Indian Railways.
Cops zero in on alleged killer

“We are on the verge of arresting Deepak Mallik,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (North-West), Bipin Bihari even as rumours floated in some quarters that police had arrested Mallik. Mallik, said to be the boyfriend of model and TV actress Sanjana Srivastava, is the prime suspect in the case.
“A team is camping at Meerut, Mallik’s home-town. Another team is reaching there and we are confident of arresting him soon,” said Bihari. The second police team left for Mallik’s suspected hide-out on Wednesday. “Mallik is joggling between Meerut and Delhi. His lawyer has already arrived in Mumbai. Mallik knows that his game is up. Either he surrenders or we arrest him,” said Bihari.
