Questions and answers

My credit card has been wrongly debited to an e-transaction of Tata Indicom for bills of some third person. I wrote to my credit card issuers and they have reversed the charges of the wrong debit to my account through some insurance scheme for theft, robbery etc, and I have been debited the Insurance Premium, without any notice.

But they have charged me interest, which is not payable as I had not made the purchases of Rs5,000 and Rs525, which is shown in my billing statement. It appears that some individual is using my credit card facility. Please advice where I can file a complaint to nab the hacker. -Vijay Kuchekar

There are four aspects of your complaint:

If the credit card issuer has reversed the original entries as incorrect, he obviously cannot charge interest for the wrongly billed amount.

Please make a complaint in writing and send it by Speed Post with acknowledgement to the Registered Office of the credit card company bank.

As far as worrying about future wrong transactions, once you have warned the company about fraudulent transactions, your liability ceases.

As far as charging the premium of an Insurance Policy taken by the Company being passed on to you, this is a patently wrong act.

Please mention this to them in your correspondence and ask for a reversal of the transaction with an apology.
