Maharashtra has five of its cities in the list of the first ten cities declared as open defecation-free (ODF) by the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
In addition to being the leading state in the country as far as development is concerned, Maharashtra has received yet another recognition of being the leader state, when it comes to having more open defecation-free cities.
Maharashtra has five of its cities in the list of the first ten cities declared as open defecation-free (ODF) by the Union Ministry of Urban Development. The five cities include Kagal, Murgud, Panhala, Vengurla and Panchgani.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has congratulated the entire system under the urban development department which is running the campaign for ODF cities and villages. Maharashtra has achieved ODF status for 7000 villages in the state and for 26 municipal corporations, 226 municipal councils and 120 municipal panchayats.
