President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate a two-day event dedicated to the contribution of women to society through their work, on April 13.
She will attend a programme organised by city-based social organisation Ahilyarani Mahila Vikas and Shaikshnik Sanstha at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch.
Speaking at a press conference, the event organiser, Nilima Tapasvi, said the event is an effort to draw inspiration from the outstanding women of the last few centuries. The programme is dedicated to women working in self-help groups (SHGs), and running industrial units successfully to generate employment for women, she said.
A book titled Ranraginincha Desh on women warriors, including Jijamata, Ahilyabai Holkar to modern-day icons will also be released on the occasion.
Pune mayor Mohansingh Rajpal will inaugurate the special programme based on women entrepreneurship on April 14. Noted entrepreneurs will guide the members of SHGs to various business opportunities.
Five successful women entrepreneurs of SHGs — Kamaltai Pardeshi, Bhagyashree Chonde, Bharati Dalvi, Rohini Naik and Snehalata Chhatre — will be felicitated for their contribution in respective fields.
