Fifty-seven officers and personnel of Maharashtra Police were on Tuesday presented President's medals for gallantry, distinguished and meritorious service.
Governor Vidyasagar Rao presented the President's police medals for gallantry, distinguished and meritorious service to these officers and personnel at an investiture ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday evening.
While 12 of them were given gallantry medals, 41 police officers and personnel were presented with medals for meritorious service. Four senior officers- D Kanakartnam, Additional DG, Rashmi Shukla, Commissioner (State Intelligence Bureau), Rajnish Seth, Additional Director General (ACB) and K Venaktesham, Additional DGP - were given medals for distinguished service.
Later, Sanjay Chandrakant Chowgule, Sub-Inspector (Amravati), Chinna Gilla Venta, Constable (Gadchiroli) and Dhananjay Pandhari Maske, Constable (Gadchiroli) were given the gallantry medals posthumously.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ministers of State for Home Ram Shinde (Urban) and Ranjit Patil (Rural), DGP Sanjeev Dayal and Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria were prominent among those present on the occasion.
