With the arrest of three persons, the Mahim police on Monday busted a fake mark sheet racket in the city. The three were involved in printing and selling forged mark sheets of SSC, HSC, BCom.

A laptop, a colour printer, a scanner and lamination machines were seized from their rented house in Airoli.

Hundreds of stamps and seals of the Govt. of India, Govt. of Maharashtra, notary, customs, deputy collectors, deputy registrars were also seized from their printing press at Airoli.

The three accused — Prasant Kuley (42), Bharat Tambe (45) and Ashish Pednekar (38) — were remanded in police custody for five days. Police said the three were using seals of Mumbai board, Pune board and Mumbai University.

According to the police, the three were SSC dropouts and they used to target SSC, HSC and B Com fail students as their clients. The three had been charging Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 per mark sheets, said the police.

Acting on a tip-off, API Bhagwant Kadam raided a place outside Mahim railway station on Monday afternoon and nabbed Kuley. Kuley’s arrest helped the police to nab his two accomplices.
