Officials turn them away, tell them to return after 15 to 20 days

As lakhs of students at the University of Mumbai still await their results, the university's help desks set up for students to get their confidential results are of no use, allege students.
On August 2, the university started a help desk for students whose higher education offers are at stake due to the delayed results at MU. The university had assured that such students would be given confidential results so that their admissions would not be cancelled. Despite this, students say the help desk is ineffective as officials often turn them away, asking them to come back after 15-20 days.
"I have admission at a university in Australia. Despite having applied for confidential results a week ago, the university is yet to provide the results. Officials at MU say they can give the results only after a week," said a student of final year BA on the condition of anonymity.
Students have been queuing up at the help desk located in the university's Kalina campus over the last few days. "It is really disappointing that we have to wait in a queue all day for no fault of our own," said Hetvi Gandhi, a commerce student.
Officials at the university said that a large number of students have applied for confidential results which is taking them some time to process. "We have to locate each and every paper for the student, prepare the result, and then send it to the university, which is taking some time. But we are taking up cases depending on the urgency" said an MU official.
Meanwhile, a group of organisations including student groups and some ex-senate members in the university have organised a joint meeting on Thursday under the banner of Mumbai Vidyapeeth Shikshan Bachao Manch. "The delay in results is an unprecedented one and we are going to discuss our course of action to condemn it soon," said Sanjay Vairal, ex-senate member at MU.
