BMC seeks information from its schools over computer labs

Following a complaint received from a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) education committee member over unused computers by the BMC schools, the civic body's education officials have issued a letter to all administrative officers of school to gather the information on computer labs, digital classroom by visiting the schools and provide the details asked.

According to BMC education committee member and Yuva Sena core committee member Sainath Durge, the computers that were newly brought in many BMC schools six months back were not installed and were gathering dust.

He alleged that despite of doing payments to the INP computers company, no installation was done. Durge lodged a complaint and had a meeting on the same issue with the deputy municipal commissioner, deputy education officer, administrative officer and headmistress of the BMC schools.

On this, the BMC education officials have sent a letter to administrative officer of BMC schools to visit the schools and do inspection by submitting report filling up details like school name, computer lab available or not, computer lab got through BMC or NGO, installation done or not done, if not done any complaint was done, is there period mentioned in timetable for students etc. Similar details needs to be given on digital classroom and science laboratory.

Mahesh Palkar, education officer, BMC said, "Yes the letter has been issued to administrative officers of all wards to do inspections in the BMC schools and send the details."
