It is believed that observing this fast can cleanse the sins of their ancestors and grant them salvation, making it an important day for honoring one's lineage.

Puja Rituals:

  • Begin the day by waking up early in the morning and taking a purifying bath.
  • Cleanse your house, especially the puja room, to create a sacred atmosphere.
  • Place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu and offer garlands, fruits, Tulsi leaves, and homemade sweets (such as halwa).
  • Prepare sattvik (pure and vegetarian) food and offer it to Brahmins, cows, crows, dogs, and ants as a part of charity.
  • Recite the Bhagavad Gita or listen to its stories, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of the day.
  • Offer heartfelt prayers to Lord Vishnu and seek His blessings for yourself and your ancestors.
  • Observe a strict fast throughout the day and refrain from plucking Tulsi leaves on Ekadashi, as it is considered inauspicious.
  • Break your fast on the following day, Dwadashi Tithi.
