Over 10,500 aspirants on Sunday appeared to write National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at 20 centres of the Kota city. The female aspirants outnumbered their male counterparts in the city.
Most of the aspirants were satisfied with the questions asked in biology and chemistry, but expressed difficulty in attempting physics questions which they termed as unexpected. “Physics questions were unexpected and required lengthy calculation,’ Hrishika, a NEET aspirant said.
According to subject experts, physics paper was balanced carrying 20 questions from class 11 and 25 from class 12. The physics paper was tougher than last year as some of the questions were based on direct formulas while others required lengthy calculations, the experts said.
Meanwhile, dealing with the searing heat was a challenge for the parents and guardians who stood outside exam centres as their was no facility of drinking water and there was no shade under which they could stand and wait.
The CBSE allots contingency fund to provide necessary amenities including tent shade, drinking water and makeshift toilets but here is no such facility, said a parent who reached Kota from Bihar for his daughter’s NEET exam at a centre in Raipura area of Kota city.
In Jaipur, 150 students from Tamil Nadu appeared in the examination. During the exam, wearing jeans and jewelry were not allowed, but still at many examination centers in Jaipur students reached wearing jeans and were thus declined entry into the centre. To ensure their wards do not miss out on the exam, parents rushed to buy pajamas from nearby shops.
The pre-BSTC exam was conducted peacefully at different examination centres across the state on Sunday. Conducted by Govind Guru Tribal University, 1856 examination centres were set up in the state. As many 57, 000 candidates were registered in 119 centres in Jaipur. Of these, 48, 804 candidates appeared in the exam. Professor RK Kothari, V-C, RU, inspected three centres.
