NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old TV channel reporter committed suicide at her Noida residence late on Wednesday. In a note left behind, she has blamed her bosses for driving her to end her life.

Priya was employed with Total TV, an NCR (National Capital Region) channel. Around 8.30pm, her roommate found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

The news channel’s output editor Tapan Bharati and executive producer Umesh Joshi have been arrested. “Priya has mentioned in her suicide note that Bharati and Joshi were not allowing her to make progress at work,” said Noida SP Paresh Pandey.

Pandey said a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against the duo.

“Both have maintained that Priya’s claims are exaggerated. They denied exploiting her professionally,” he added. The police may question Priya’s colleagues on Friday.

Priya’s roommate Tanuja has reportedly told the police that she found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
