Woman chases molestor in Noida, slaps him for groping her

A 24-year-old woman on Friday (March 12) thrashed a man after he allegedly tried to grope her while she was crossing the road near Sahara red light in Noida.

The accused had allegedly grabbed the woman’s chest and was trying to flee from the spot on his bicycle when the woman ran after him and caught hold of his shirt before slapping him, reported Time of India.

The victim works at a petrol pump in Noida and the incident took place when she was walking towards the petrol pump early on Friday. 

While she was walking towards the Sahara red light, she noticed a man on a cycle stopping at different spots and staring at her repeatedly, the woman told TOI. 

“He kept staring at me all the way and when I reached the crossing, I saw a car approaching in my direction. I tried to reach a safe spot but the cyclist came from behind, groped me and tried to escape. I was shocked but I ran behind him,” she said.

The woman then caught the accused and started slapping him. She alleged that the onlookers who had started to record videos of the incident, instead of helping her, asked her to stop beating the accused.

I have been staying here for the past six years but this was the first time when I felt unsafe. People think that they can do such things and get away with it. Even though he said sorry later, such an act is totally unacceptable,” the woman said adding that due to absence of CCTV cameras such crimes are increasing.

Meanwhile, Ranvijay Singh, additional DCP (Noida), told TOI that the woman has been called to record her statement and an FIR will be registered against the accused.
