Weather Update: IMD predicts heavy rainfall for several states, check state-wise forecast

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely in west Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to experience sporadic, extremely heavy rainfall during the next two days. Additionally, it indicated that Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim might experience exceptionally heavy rainfall on Thursday.

On Wednesday and Thursday, similar conditions are likely in Jharkhand, Bihar, and Gangetic West Bengal.

The IMD also issued a rainfall warning in east India. Additionally, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands may experience these conditions till Sunday. “Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated in West Bengal and Sikkim on Wednesday and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on Thursday,” said the IMD.

In Northeast India, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are predicted to experience light to moderate widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning till Friday.

“Nagaland and Manipur should be prepared for similar conditions on Wednesday and Thursday. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely in west Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday and Thursday,” said the IMD.

On Wednesday, North Chhattisgarh in Central India is predicted to get light to moderate scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning.

“For South India, light to moderate scattered rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over south Tamil Nadu on Wednesday,” the IMD predicted.

For the next five days, the weather in Northwest and West India is predicted to be mostly dry.
