The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised concerns by issuing severe weather alerts for different regions. Uttarakhand is under a red alert, anticipating excessive rainfall over the next 48 hours. In Himachal Pradesh, an orange alert has been issued for specific districts during the same timeframe.

The IMD's predictions suggest that Uttarakhand will experience intense rainfall on August 13 and 14, with potential for exceptionally heavy downpours in isolated areas.

Meanwhile, the forecast extends to Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. These regions can expect isolated episodes of heavy rain over the next two days.

Northwest India should expect light to moderate rainfall, scattered to fairly widespread, with isolated instances of heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from August 13 to 14 and in Uttarakhand continuing until August 17. On Sunday, Punjab, Haryana, and both East and West Uttar Pradesh might experience similar conditions.

In addition, there's a possibility of intense rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, while Uttarakhand might encounter extremely heavy falls on Sunday and August 14.

Looking at Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, the IMD forecasts light to moderate, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, including isolated heavy rainfall from Sunday to August 15. Bihar can expect this on Sunday, while Gangetic West Bengal might experience it on August 16 and 17. Meanwhile, Odisha and Jharkhand could encounter similar conditions from August 15 to 17, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands might see them between August 14 and 16. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim should brace for isolated very heavy rainfall on August 13.

Moving to Northeast India, the IMD projects light to moderate, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, including isolated heavy rainfall from Sunday to August 17 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Assam and Meghalaya might also experience isolated to very heavy rainfall on Sunday.

For Central, West, and South India, the IMD anticipates light to moderate, isolated to scattered rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall potential in East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on August 16 and 17. The remaining parts of these regions should expect relatively subdued rainfall over the next week.
