NEW DELHI: Nearly four days after she was virtually hounded out of West Bengal, controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen is set to return to Kolkata soon.
Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee and West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee are apparently working out a strategy together for this. Officials at the Centre and in West Bengal are tight-lipped about what this strategy is and the date of the author’s return.
The West Bengal police had flown Nasreen to Jaipur on Thursday after Muslim fundamentalists demanding her ouster from the country resorted to violence in Kolkata.
The author was forced to leave Jaipur for Delhi in less than a day due to security concerns. She is now at Rajasthan House in Delhi. Nasreen has said she does not want to speak to the press on the issue. All that she told a TV channel was: “I miss my home, I miss Kolkata. I don’t want to leave India for any other country.”
