On Wednesday, a 12th standard state-level rank holder was allegedly kidnapped from her home by a man who posed as a reporter.
According to a report in The New Indian Express the girl from Aruppukottai had secured state-level ranks in vocational subjects in the 12th grade exams. The results of these exams were published on Tuesday.
The report states that on Wednesday, a person called Vijay Anand came to her home and said he wanted to interview her. After the interview, Vijay Anand said he wanted to give Rs 50,000 for her achievement and that the District Collector would hand it over, adds the report. The girl and her parents were then reportedly taken to Virudhunagar.
However, he then reportedly tricked her parents saying he was taking the girl to a photo studio for a picture and disappeared. The girl's father has filed a complaint with the Virudhunagar Bazaar police that his daughter has been kidnapped, adds the daily. Enquiries are on.
