Experiencing acute mental trauma due to sexual assault, a teen girl finally opened up about her horrific ordeal of living with her ‘mama’, a Delhi government official.
A government officer and his wife have been arrested by the Delhi Police and charged with sexual assault, among other offenses for the repeated rape of a minor girl a few years back. The government official is now in custody, and has since been suspended from his post.
The case of Delhi government official Premoday Khakha and his wife sexually assaulting and causing acute mental trauma to a minor girl shocked the nation, especially due to the irony that the accused is an Assistant Director in Delhi government’s Women and Child Development Department.
The series of sexual assaults took place during the period of November 2020 to January 2021. During these three months, the teen girl was living with Khakha and his wife since her father had recently passed away and the two families were close.
The victim girl was 14 at the time, and only this month revealed that the Delhi government officer raped her repeatedly during her stay with the couple. The same was revealed by the victim during therapy, and a case was filed under the POCSO Act.
Ever since the horrific incidents, the teen girl had been experiencing acute anxiety and depression, as well as repeated panic attacks. The girl was finally admitted to St Stephen’s Hospital in Delhi this month due to her panic attacks, where she was provided therapy, which is where she revealed the ordeal.
During her therapy sessions at the hospital, the victim revealed how she had been raped repeatedly by someone she called ‘mamu’, also saying that she had gotten pregnant during that time due to the sexual assaults.
To hush down and cover up her husband’s crimes, Khakha’s wife procured and gave abortion pills to the minor girl to terminate her pregnancy without anyone knowing. Despite the complaint being filed, the government official and his wife were not arrested for several days.
However, due to pressure by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the Delhi Police, as well as the massive public outrage, the husband-wife duo was taken into custody and is being interrogated.
