Pakistan on Monday called back its high commissioner Sohail Mahmood for consultations. In a tweet, Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said, "We have called back our high Commissioner in India for consultations. He left New Delhi this morning"

The development comes days after India called back its high commissioner Ajay Bisaria for consultations in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack that killed over 40 CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bisaria was at the ministry for more than one and a half hour on Saturday for consultations. Speaking to reporters after the meet he said, "I am here for consultations", asked for how long, he replied, "I don't know for how many days but I am here for a while".

India has launched a diplomatic campaign to isolate Pakistan and will continue the press this week as well. On Friday and Saturday, India briefed over 40 envoys over Pakistan's involvement in the worst terror attack in India in the last tw decades. These envoys were from Permanent and non-permanent members of the United Nations security council, ASEAN, Central Asia, Africa, Gulf and India's strategic partners like Japan, Germany.

India and Pakistan have been calling back there envoys for consultations many times but this time it is significant due to the Pulwama attack. Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack.
