One civilian was killed and six others, including five policemen were injured on Sunday in a grenade attack in Khanyar area of old Srinagar.

Terrorists hurled a powerful grenade at a police naka near Khanyar injuring seven people. One civilian succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Condition of one policeman is stated to be critical.

"A naka was laid near the Khanyar police station when the grenade was hurled at them. Three policemen and two civilians were injured. One of the civilian later succumbed," said Rajesh Yadav, spokesman of the CRPF in Kashmir.

This is the second terror attack in the last three days in Kashmir. A group of heavily armed terrorists on April 27, stormed into the highly fortified army garrison and launched an Uri-style attack, leaving three soldiers including an officer dead and five others injured at Panzgam village near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

Two terrorists were gunned down by the security forces while the third terrorist managed to escape after suffering injuries in the 35-minute long encounter.
