Kolkata: CBI summons St Xavier's Principal Felix Raj in connection with Rose Valley Chit Fund scam

CBI officials will examine Raj's role in the huge amount paid to the college as donation.

St. Xavier's College Kolkata Principal, Father Felix Raj, was summoned by CBI in connection with the Rose Valley Chit Fund scam on Thursday. Raj appeared before the CBI officials at the CGO complex in Kolkata for questioning.

Sources in the CBI revealed that the main accused in the Rose Valley Chit Fund scam, Gautam Kundu, who was also the chairman of the Rose Valley Group, had paid a donation amount Rs 71 lakh for his son's admission.

Two days ago, CBI arrested Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandhyapadhyay on charges of money laundering in connection with the case.

The CBI had filed its charge sheet in the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam naming Kundu and three others in a special court in Bhubaneswar on January 7, 2016. The Rose Valley Group has been charged with defrauding depositors of Rs 17,000 crore from across the country of which Rs 450 crore was received by the ponzi firm from Odisha alone.
