Adopting the green concept, Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) would shortly transform its Dewas-based manufacturing facility into a green plant.

Discussing the Golden Jubilee of its Dewas Plant in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director of the group said that green concept implies lesser usage of resources which in turn would ensure minimal discharge from the manufacturing facility.

“By innovative practices, we try to cut down usage of power, water and raw material for reducing the cost and increasing efficiency,” he said.

Among other eco-friendly initiatives, the company uses sunlight for daily operations and electricity run devices are only switched on after 6 pm.   Pumps manufactured by us carry 5-star rating which signifies their power efficiency as compared to other similar products, he added.

“We put a polymer coating on our pumps so that the durability of these products increases and power consumption reduces,” MD claimed.

“The plant has made significant contributions to some of our key projects like SMS, JIT, MOST, and TPS. And our vision is to expand the production to 6,00,000 pumps P.A., and double the turnover in 5 years.”

On gender parity front, the MD said that the plant has recently hired a group of 20 ITI trained female employees. We would expand out base in Dewas apart from establishing footprints in other states, he said while showering praises on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his ‘excellent’ industry-friendly policies. He also appreciated pro-industry steps taken by the Madhya Pradesh government. Jayant Sapre, Executive Director, KBL said, “Established in 1985, the plant has strength of 700 employees.”

The plant boasts of state-of-the-art R&D facilities and as of today it manufactures all types of centrifugal pumps, being supplied all over India, Africa and Europe.  The company office bearers claimed that the group would expand its operations in Dewas but declined to divulge further details.
