The arrested men have been identified as Mohd Hashim, 52, and Mohd Sagir, 32. They were nabbed from Vinod Nagar in east Delhi on Thursday.
Delhi police today claimed to have unearthed two illegal arms factories and recovered 113 fire-arms with the arrest of two persons.
The arrested men have been identified as Mohd Hashim, 52, and Mohd Sagir, 32. They were nabbed from Vinod Nagar in east Delhi on Thursday, Arun Kampani, Deputy commissioner of police (special cell), said.
"We have unearthed two illegal arms factories in Ghaziabad and Delhi with the arrest of these two persons," Kampani said.
Searches in Ghaziabad and East Vinod Nagar yielded functional and ready to assemble weapon components for 20 pistols of 9 MM bore, 80 pistols of .315 bore, 9 revolvers of.32 bore besides two .315 bore pistols with 6 cartridges, one.32 bore revolver with 6 cartridges and one 9 MM pistol with 5 cartridges.
"This cumulatively comes to 113 weapons and 15 cartridges," he said.
Hashim told police that he had shifted to Delhi about a year back and had taken a shop on rent in East Vinod Nagar, Delhi from where he was undertaking the job of cycle repair and sale of small gas cylinders.
"However, at the back portion of the said shop he was clandestinely making arms by assembling various parts at night," he said.
The average sale price of these weapons was Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 each. The price could further be jacked up by him keeping in mind the urgency which the criminals showed at the time of procuring illegal weapon, Kampani said.
Sagir is allegedly closely associated with Hashim in supply of high quality country made pistols and revolvers. His specialisation is in fabricating 9 MM pistols and .32 revolvers which he was making clandestinely at his factory at Islam Nagar in Ghaziabad, police said.
