The special enquiry committee of the Election Commission has found no anomaly or tampering in electronic voting machine (EVM) and voter verification paper audit trail (VVPAT) used during a demonstration in Ater (Bhind) constituency of Madhya Pradesh on March 31.
Facing flak from political parties, especially AAP, Congress and BSP after reports appeared of VVPAT showing slips bearing only BJP’s Lotus symbol irrespective of the buttons pressed, the EC had sent a high level enquiry team led by Bhanwar Lal, Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh to Madhya Pradesh.
After the enquiry, the committee concluded that “it is completely false to say that at multiple times slips of lotus were printed on pressing different buttons during the demonstration, as alleged.”
