Devendra Fadnavis may take oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister for his second term on November 5, according to sources.

As per the sources, BJP and Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra is likely to be formed soon and Fadnavis is expected to take oath as the Chief Minister on November 5.

Fadnavis may take oath at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, sources said.

Maharashtra assembly election results were declared on October 24 which gave a clear majority to BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. However, the government formation has been delayed as both the parties entered into a power tussle after Shiv Sena reminded BJP of the '50-50' formula.

So far, Sena has remained adamant on its '50-50' scheme according to which it wants the Chief Minister's post to be shared for 2.5 years each by both the parties.

In the recently concluded assembly polls, BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 105 seats and has maintained that only Devendra Fadnavis will be Maharashtra CM for the next five years.

The BJP and Shiv Sena contested Maharashtra elections together and won 105 and 56 seats, respectively. But Shiv Sena is now demanding "50-50 formula" for power-sharing which has delayed the government formation.

In 2014, the two parties had contested the election separately, but none of them were able to reach the majority mark of 245. However, the BJP being the single largest party with 122 MLAs in the 288-member assembly formed a minority government initially but was later supported by Shiv Sena.
