COVID-19: Weekend lockdown imposed in THIS district of Maharashtra - What’s open, what's shut

Amid rising coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the Nashik district administration has decided to impose a weekend lockdown in the area with several restrictions. The weekend lockdown is scheduled to come into effect from Tuesday (March 9).

The Nashik district administration decided to impose the weekend lockdown after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took stock of the situation in the state. As per the new order, no weddings will be allowed in the state from  March 15. However, the functions for which permission was granted earlier can be organised.

What’s allowed and what's not

 - All essential services will be allowed

 -All shops and establishments to remain closed from 7 pm to 7 am. 

-Schools, colleges, coaching classes to remain closed in Nashik city, Malegaon.

-Temples, Mosques to remain open till 7 PM. 

- Places of worship will remain closed on weekend.

- Scheduled examinations such as UPSC and MPSC will be conducted as usual.

Meanawhile, a lockdown has been imposed in 16 hotspots in Maharashtra's Thane district by the civic administration from March 13 till March 31, 2021.  Thane Municipal Commissioner Vipin Sharma said the decision to impose lockdown was taken due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
