COVID-19 vaccination: Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand to inoculate those above 18 for free

The registration for vaccination of people above the age of 18 will begin on April 24 (Saturday) on the Co-Win app.

In a significant step, the Union government on Monday (April 19) announced that the third phase of COVID-19 vaccination will begin from May 1 and everyone above the age of 18 will be eligible to get the vaccine jab. 

The registration for vaccination of people above the age of 18 will begin on April 24 (Saturday) on the Co-Win app.

In this phase of vaccination, vaccine manufacturers would supply 50% of their supply of doses to centre & would be free to supply the remaining 50% doses to state governments and in the open market.

To aid people in getting inoculated, the Andhra Pradesh government and Uttarakhand government on Friday announced that they will be providing vaccination free of cost to people above the age of 18 years.

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to provide the COVID19 vaccine free of cost to all those above the age of 18 years, said a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO)

“People aged above 18 years will be administered COVID19 vaccine free of cost, at both government & private hospitals,” said Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat. 

The vaccination will continue as before in the union government's vaccination centres and will be provided free of cost to the eligible population as defined earlier i.e. Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers and all people above 45 years of age.
