CID probing if Kausar Bi was sexually assaulted

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat CID is investigating all aspects of the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and alleged murder of his wife Kausar Bi, including whether she was raped, a top source in the CID (crime) said on Wednesday.

Denying any concrete evidence at present of any sexual assault on Kausar, the source said since investigation revealed that the woman was kept in confinement for some days the CID will be examining all the aspects.

"We are looking into all aspects of what might have happened to the woman when she was kept in confinement. However, we have not got any evidence so far," the source added.

Forensic investigations will also be done to find out whether any sexual assault had taken place, the source added.

Meanwhile, to piece together the sequence of the fake encounter of Sheikh and brutal murder of his wife allegedly at the hands of the team of Gujarat and Rajasthan police, the Gujarat CID (crime) had taken the three accused IPS officers to different places.

Another source from the CID said "we have taken the three accused officers to different places, including a farm house where Kausar Bi is suspected to have been eliminated".

After securing four more days of custody of the three arrested IPS officers -- D G Vanjhara, Rajkumar Pandiyan and Dineshkumar M N -- from a local court yesterday, the probe team made visits with the three to some places, including a farm house where Kausar Bi is suspected to have been eliminated, the source said.
