In a twist to the Badaun double gang-rape and murder case, the CBI has now decided to exhume the bodies of the two girls, cousins aged 14 and 15, for a second autopsy.
Though CBI officials investigating the case are tight-lipped on the matter, sources say the decision has been taken because the CBI believes that the female doctor who conducted the first post-mortem analysis had "botched up" since she was a first-timer. Since the matter has been under investigation, the bodies were buried instead of being cremated.
The girls had gone missing from their homes in Katra Saadatganj village in Badaun district of west UP on May 27 and their bodies were found hanging from a tree outside the village the next morning.
