'Terrible example!': Watch- R Ashwin 'Mankads' Jos Buttler, Twitter slams him for going against 'the spirit of the game'

There was a big controversial moment during Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab match in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. It happened as Ravichandran Ashwin 'mankaded' Jos Buttler in the 13th over. 

Buttler, who was just outside his crease and had no intention for going for a run, had to go back for 69. However, it seemed Ashwin had stopped in his action and waited for Buttler to leave his crease.

The dismissal was within the rules of the game but generated a lot of controversy as many considered this against the spirit of the game.

Jose Buttler was not happy with the dismissal and had a word with Ashwin about it. He left the field quite angry at what has happened. 

However, this is not the first time Jos Buttler has been Mankaded. 

Twitter was soon flooded with reactions over the wicket. Many cricketers, present and former, took to Twitter to express their thought over the wicket.

It’s within the laws of the game but Jos Butler should have been warned by Ashwin before that. Very Surprised ! Remember Ashwin doing the same in an international game where Sehwag withdrew the appeal.

Cricket experts were also not impressed by Ashiwn's call

All for Mankading but what Ashwin has done is wrong. He paused and waited for Buttler to leave crease which goes against the spirit of the game.

Dickwella in 2017 was fined for a similar stumping attempt. He waited for batsman to leave the crease before breaking stumps. #RRvKXIP

Oh hell! Ashwin's run Butler out for backing up too far. Within the laws, but outside the spirt of the game. Unless the batsman had been cautioned earlier. We'll know about that later. For now, Punjab get coveted breakthru and the IPL its first major controversy this season
